When Your Ego Eats Your Character
Character is who you’re meant to be
But we tend to let our ego fly
The jet
Straight to our demise
And take us to new heights
That cause us to suffocate
Like a fish with no water
Or a bird that took too long of a bath
We starve our character
Of situations that mean
Something
So that we can
Live a life
With a
White picket fence
Kids
And a wife
We let our ego
Write the check
That our character
Can’t cash
In hopes to characterize
The ego
So that being egotistical
Is disguised as our
Character
Then the ego can continue
To fly
It’s as if we
Leave our character
On the runway
And say
Good bye
I was really inspired to write this over the week but I kept missing something in this piece and then I went to go see a hip-hop artist perform and he started to talk to us about ego and character and that struck a chord with me and I decided to try and write this piece. This is a very experimental piece. Leave your opinions on it.
