Winter’s Grace

"Snowflakes are kisses from heaven."
— Unknown
"I pray this winter be gentle and kind--a season of rest from the wheel of the mind. "
--John Geddes

Most trees stand bare, though others green
Hollies peek through the snow-filled ground
At dawn, no creatures can be seen
The chill of winter all around

But golden rays turn skies to blue
And morning blooms, a lovely sight
The sun ascends with stunning hue
Its glow brings the earth back to light

In open fields, fresh virgin snow
Windblown snowbanks, frozen hills
With sunlight, snow melt gives an icy glow
Revealing crystal lace as water spills

Through winter’s chill, the earth holds tight
To beauty cloaked in frosted light
