Essence of Thought

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all."
– Oscar Wilde

Cogito Ergo Sum

In the quiet depths
Single thought defines my name—
I think, so I am
Soft whisper builds my essence
The proof of my existence

A spark lights my way
I ponder, so I exist
Mind’s breath in the mist
Truth, I find in each ripple
For my brain never fickle

I think, so I breathe,
Born from whispers deep inside—
Alive but tongue-tied
In thought’s shadowed embrace
My soul rests in gentle grace

Each thought a spark, pure and bright
Mind’s steady flame brings the light
In the quiet depths I see
Proof that I exist and be!

René Descartes, a 17th-century French philosopher, is known for the philosophical statement, “I think, therefore I am”, which is originally in French and best known by its Latin translation, Cogito, ergo sum.
Descartes came to this conclusion after searching for a statement that could not be doubted. He realized that he could not doubt his own existence because he was the one doing the doubting
