So far
So close, yet so far.
On this dreary world they tread.
To be lifted is the bar
The reality of which they dread.
Their eyes have locked
In passion they feel.
Their hearts have knocked
This may not be real.
For a moment in time
Their feelings may be allowed to shine.
To some it is a crime
To them a chance to say you’re mine.
Neither of them knowing
All they can do is talk to each other
Of where this love is going
With Commitments already made to another.
Realizing it will come to an end
Much like a distant star
Only able to keep a friend
So close, yet so far.
