Author's Remarks:
From my formative years I always knew what I principally wanted to be when I became an adult; and that was to be an Academic. Subsequently on my entering Grammar School in Barbados very early really at the age of 10 years, the normal age for general admission was actually 11 years but exceptionally bright pupils were literally put forward earlier by their respective junior school and essentially also with the full support of their actual class teachers and naturally too that of their family members. I was effectively therefore among that very exceptionally talented lot; quite outstandingly passed those exams, I was afterwards officially informed and subsequently allowed my choice of Grammar School.
That school - the Alleyne School - with its Latin motto: Aliis Non Sibi, literally meaning - For Others Not Ourselves - which you can readily Google its quite outstanding history should you actually care to, and I obviously ardently advise and recommend that you do so, was unquestionably the solid foundation of all my distinctly discernible realizations throughout my entire life.
Equipped with quite absolutely brilliant teachers who made the art of teaching a joy to behold and an experience to be thoroughly enjoyed, even long after leaving school and well into our own adulthood, but rather sadly with them all having very peacefully and evidently contentedly, requisite not only to their own lives and outstanding achievements, but too from the perspective of everyone they came across, regrettably departed this life; they're literally rather effortlessly so, still iconic figures and irrefutably as well legions in all of our lives, as the responses requisite from our Global Aliis Non Sibi and Alleyne School fora, and rather comprehensive social media platforms, do effusively and gratefully show.
Notably among them was Mr. Kenneth G. Doughlin, a most exceptional English Master, Classics Teacher and similarly as well Music Director to those that he taught across those numerous years as initially the Deputy Head certainly when I was a pupil at the Alleyne School and as Headmaster after my departure.
A close friend of my evidently extended family and a specifically commendable neighbour of my darling paternal great aunt, Aunt Mlllie, who lovingly but quite likewise sensibly and responsibly spoilt me greatly throughout my childhood, as well as additionally all her life until at a great age she evidently rather sadly for everyone who knew her simply passed on to be with the other Celestial Angel's but spiritually routinely keeps in touch with me - God eternally bless her soul - and attendantly her husband and my outstanding Godfather, both of whom were unquestionably supportive and rather encouraging too, like my overall remaining family members were, quite thrilled to bits when my Mama literally asked Mr. Doughlin to give me private tuition and quite unhesitatingly he did so!
That helped considerably in my intense learning process and what I would very undoubtedly do in my adulthood. Since knowing that undeniably I wanted to be an Academic, Mr. Doughlin outlined the pitfalls in such a career and graphically outlined how I could and would literally quite successfully overcome them. Far too many people think that teaching is an easy pastime for themselves, in that they can leave school, basically get into a university that would have them, then on obtaining their degree obviously go back into education without having any real experience of life; yet undoubtedly conceitedly deluding themselves that they're experts at dictating to juvenile minds what life is essentially all about. It's not only pure nonsense but likewise clearly incalculably wrong, Mr. Doughlin eruditely and most sensibly stated.
And unquestionably accounts for why I authentically did the jobs that I actually chose to do and which themselves did comprise such diversity: Nursing; the Royal Air Force; also the British Inland Revenue; and additionally Journalism, principally among them but others as well subsidiarily. I'm a qualified youth leader, athletics coach who once did distinctively train aspiring athletes at Wolverhampton and Bilston Athletics Club and additionally also a marriage guidance counsellor; quite distinctly with a plethora of viable work related experience that I could and have taken into the principal career of my life that I've always very keenly but furthermore, patently and similarly successfully have embarked upon, and evidently, fervently thankfully and most gratefully so to one of my life's irrefutably and significantly likewise significantly principal mentors, the indisputably incomparable and also charismatic Mr. Kenneth G. Doughlin!
And why it's my firm belief that judges should likewise be legally obligated to have crucial work and life experiences outside the very incestuous and rather unrealistic life experiences which they quite ludicrously ensconce themselves in. For had Judge John Thackray done so, he distinctly wouldn't have been so gullibly taken in by psychopath Teresa Hanson, to then meet out to her such a very pathetic sentence as he obviously did. And regrettably John Thackray isn’t alone in doing what he asininely did!
