We Don’t Know What We Want, but We’ll Do Anything to Get It

Since seeing is believing
all that we really want is kept
out of sight, out of mind
leaving everything we think we know about ourselves
to the imagination

Accordingly, our deepest beliefs
are in the unbelievable
and we remain convinced
of our specious wants and needs
even as the Real
impinges on the satisfaction
of our unacknowledged desires
when we become
capable of the unimaginable
by reimagining the unreal
and transmuting blind rage
into righteous anger,
thereby masking the ensuing bloodbath
as a ritual cleansing
