This Poem Isn’t Funny Because It Explains a Joke

As usual, the materialist is half-right
When he insists life
(By which he means his life)
Is no laughing matter
But he will remain a halfwit until
He gets that the joke’s not just on him
It’s on all of us
When he will come to his wits
As his self-seriousness dissolves in a fit of laughter
While he finally augments the physical
With the spiritual
And realizes life is seriously funny
But only when you can laugh at yourself
Which is also when you start having serious fun
Forgetting to ask the real question of materialism
(What’s the matter with me?)
Because your spirit has moved you
Beyond the material
To the world of the every day
When every day could be the day
We finally realize
Everyone matters because we are one
Thanks to God
Who is one
