Exhaustion

I’m exhausted
No fight left
My lids so heavy
Rocks mark my eyes
No tears left
The rivers run dry
Too much sadness to deny
The darkness within
Found me tonight
As I lay here trying to hide
From the ugliness
Lurking in my mind
 
I’m exhausted
Tired of these long nights
When the silence grows loud
The darkness illuminating
The shadows residing in my mind
Screaming to be heard
Demanding they not be ignored
Despite exhaustion setting in
And the new days up ahead
 
I long to turn off the lights
Desperation becoming reality
As sleep continues to evade me
I wish I could drift off to sleep
To escape this madness
Causing chaos in my head
The incessant ramblings
Of my noisy subconscious
Refusing to rest
Demanding to be heard
Refusing to be ignored
Driving me to exhaustion
As I fumble in a
Dreamless
Sleepless
Disturbia
Peaceful oblivion denied
